Most people assume a new car goes from the factory to the showroom and that's that.

What actually happens in between is where we spend a lot of our time, and it's the part of this business I find genuinely satisfying — because it's all detail, and detail is either there or it isn't.

Our Rugby centre exists for that in-between bit. Vehicles arrive, sometimes in numbers, sometimes ahead of a delivery date that's weeks away. They need somewhere secure to sit. They need preparing to a standard that survives a customer walking around them in bright sunshine with their phone out. And increasingly they need charging, which is its own discipline that a lot of the industry is still catching up with.

So a car comes in, it's checked in and photographed, it's stored under our eye rather than in a field somewhere, it's inspected, prepped, valeted, charged if it needs to be, and it goes out when the dealer wants it — not when we can get round to it. If something's wrong, it gets found by us, in Rugby, rather than by a customer on their driveway. That's the whole value of the place in one sentence.

It's also right in the middle of the country, which is not an accident. Wherever a car is coming from and wherever it's going, Rugby is broadly on the way.

The bit I like best is that nobody who buys the car will ever know we existed. They'll open the door, get that smell, notice that everything is exactly as it should be…and think nothing of it at all.

Perfect. That's what we're for.
